YES, DAVID! Author David Shannon Visits McDougle Elementary to Celebrate Eponymous Book
The author of one of the most recognizable children’s book series, Mr. David Shannon, recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of his book “No, David!”
Luckily for our McDougle Lions, they met Mr. Shannon during a school-wide assembly while he was in Texas.
“This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for McDougle students and staff alike! We all have a connection to David Shannon’s books and characters, and to have him come in person to our school to inspire us as readers & writers, to laugh together, and to have a connection with him now personally is simply amazing!” McDougle Librarian Mrs. Julie Zachary said.
During the author’s visit, our students listened to Mr. Shannon speak about what inspired the book, fun facts about the book series, and even how to draw the main character David.
Each McDougle classroom and EVERY student received a signed David Shannon book, which could not have been possible without the support of McDougle Principal Hazel Berry, Secretary Melissa Santana, and Klein ISD Library Program Coordinator Meredith Derrick.
Thank you to Cathy Berner and the Blue Willow Bookshop team for working with McDougle Elementary and Mr. David Shannon to create an incredible experience for our young readers and staff.
