McDougle Mentors

Students helping students
M&M Students in 4th & 5th grade will have an opportunity to help out in the lower grades by them pairing up with someone else to read, have breakfast with them, make sure homework was completed and make sure they are on the right track with their behavior. This is a wonderful way to motivate both students. It also create a sense of security with new students to McDougle. Our goal is to make everyone feel welcomed & appreciated here!
Quote by Helen Keller
M&M "Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence."
M&M Reading to a child makes a difference. M&M's take time to listen to our students read, they build self confidence and encourage determination. Won't you take some time to listen to or even read to your child today?
Gifts for Children
M&M Give the gift of Acceptance...Teach those around you that they are loved for what they are, not for what they do or even how much they please you.

Give the gift of Self Confidence by helping them understand and accept that no one can be approved of all the time, and that when one encounters disapproval he need not feel immobilized or upset, that he must trust himself, not the opinions of the others.

Give them the gift of Possibilities. Don't let them label themselves as intellectuals, athletes, little ladies, macho men or whatever. Give them an example of a person who is not slotted into any one compartment and tell them a boy or a girl can sew, play football, can cry or be brave, can cut the grass or do the dishes.

Give them the gift of freedom to be anything rather than limit themselves in any way by nonsensical labels and roles.
Give them the gift of a life without needless Fears by not being a worrier yourself. Show them that you will tackle problems but that you will not sit around and fret about them. Encourage them to become doers as well.
