Welcome to Music!

I am Mr. Oscar Cardoza, and I am excited to get to make music with a new generation of musicians here at McDougle Elementary! I hope to share amazing experiences that will make today's children fall in love with music, and become the outstanding citizens and musicians of tomorrow!

A little about me....

Houston is home for me! I love the diversity of this city, and there's always something exciting to discover around every corner!

I am a recent graduate of Sam Houston State University, where I received my Bachelor's of Music, with a focus on All-Level Choral Music Education... which means I am a singer! (Yep! Guys sing too!)

One of my biggest passions is music, especially singing! I joined choir when I was in high school, and it was then that I realized that teaching the world to sing, read, and love music was the only thing I wanted to do with my life! I am eager to get to build a foundation for young musicians to become great musicians and music lovers!

I am a first generation college student, and the second in my whole family here in the United States to go to college. My older sister made it to college before me! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Speaking of which, I have two sisters - one older than me, and one a little younger than me. (Shout out to all the middle children!) And guess what? We've all made it to college! (Super shout out to all the first generation college students!)

What do we do in music?

In music, we will get to explore with our voices, sing songs and play games from around the world, play several instruments, get up and move, learn about composers throughout time, learn how to read and write music, and have fun, while we learning all the way!
